Pint-sized Jamie Cullum and his long-term girlfriend Sophie Dahl married last weekend in a secret ceremony that was far away from the prying eyes of the press, and curiously enough, children too!
The couple became engaged last March when Jamie serenaded her with a song he had especially written for the occasion. Now, less than a year later, they have wed in a secret ceremony that was high on glamour and low on publicity.
30 year-old Cullum and 32 year-old Dahl’s marriage took place in a country house located in the New Forest, Hampshire, with a civil ceremony that had a Winter Wonderland theme.
Sophie, who is the great grandchild of children’s author Roald Dahl, did not want any children present at the ceremony, and guests were asked not to bring any with them. A source close to the couple said “’Although the snow would cause most people to break down on their wedding day Sophie was thrilled as it capped off their winter wonderland theme perfectly. Guests were banned from bringing their own cameras as they had their own photographer for the day. They also decided against a magazine deal because Sophie was very keen on keeping their special day private and for themselves. Children were banned from the event so that guests could enjoy the food, wine and entertainment without any hassles.“
A wedding without children? Each to their own, but to us that would be like having a cake without icing. Surely a wedding should be a time for all to celebrate together and not leave anybody out?
