In a Royal wedding that was said to rival the excitement and pomp of our very own Charles and Diana wedding back in the 1980s, Sweden’s Princess Victoria married Daniel Westling last Saturday, in a Stockholm cathedral.
With just over 1,500 guests, followed by a Royal banquet for 500 guests following the ceremony, this was both grand in scale and one of the most memorable weddings in recent times, with a media frenzy as local Swedes lapped every single second of the grand day up. They have even gone as far to label it as the version of Charles and Diana’s wedding.
Overwhelmed by the public’s enthusiastic response to her wedding, Princess Victoria issued a statement saying: “I would like to thank you, the Swedish People, it is you who gave me my prince, I and my husband are unbelievably happy and grateful.”
An amazing day for all involved, but let’s just hopes the Charles and Diana comparisons stop there, and they do not that they do not end up the same way as our once-beloved Royal couple did eh?
