Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is upon us once again. That special time of year where we are all supposed to declare your love for your partners or potential future beaus. However, rather than waste your money on overpriced cards and chocolate that will be forgotten (or consumed) in an instant, the Church of England has issued some handy tips to help create that perfect, unforgettable romantic day…
1. If you have been married for years, you should get out your best crockery for a romantic candle-lit meal.
2. Husbands and wives should look through wedding photos, write love letters and plant a tree to symbolize their love for each other.
3. Instead of booking an expensive meal, you should return to the same place as you did when you had your first date.
4. Oh, actually, you can probably see the way this is turning out. Let’s face it, as much as we love the Church of England, the advice they give does seem a bit on the… lame side.
However, it isn’t all bad news for the Church. One enterprising Reverend has invited every couple he has married over the past twenty years back for a special Sunday service to commemorate Valentine’s Day. When asked what the day would involve, he said, “We’ll sing wedding favorites and have cake and champagne. What could be more special than to return to the church where you got married for a service to celebrate your marriage?”
Free champagne? Now there’s a service that we’ll definitely be interested in!
